teeth replacement
Dental implants are an alternative to removable dentures
Implant Teeth Replacement In Brief
If you have missing teeth, or have terminal teeth, you may benefit from dental implants to enjoy a new smile, and an improved overall oral health.
Although teeth replacement can be done with traditional removable dentures, you may discover that dental implants can offer a more cosmetically pleasing, longer lasting and more comfortable permanent solution.
Unlike dentures, implants also do not involve artificial plates in your mouth, and also do not cause shrinkage of the jaw bone and gum like dentures usually do over time.
How Does Teeth Replacement With Implants Work?
Single replacement (implant supported crown)
A dental implant is a fixture placed into the jaw bone, which bonds to the bone through osseointegration. It then acts as a secure foundation for a tooth to be attached, via a custom-made implant abutment and crown. It should be designed for your particular case, and look and feel like your natural tooth.
As the implant integrating into the bone can take around 2-3 months (sometimes longer), a permanent implant crown is not attached until after that time. During these first weeks, if the aesthetics of the missing tooth is a problem, sometimes a temporary crown may be placed on the implant if the case is suitable.
Partial replacement (implant supported bridge)
Sometimes when a span of a few teeth is missing, two or more implants would be sufficient to act as foundations to support a span of teeth, called an implant bridge. This is more cost effective than placing an implant for each missing tooth, and can also have aesthetic benefits and make treatment simpler.
Full replacement (Full arch implant reconstruction)
If a full set of teeth are missing, or multiple teeth are missing in one jaw combined with other dental problems such as infections and hopeless teeth, then a full dental implants solution like All On 4 can help you towards improved oral health and a totally new and better smile. Dr Misagh Habibi and his team at Complete can also offer the All On 4 Plus Titanium® procedure, a refined and stronger material variation to the original All On 4 procedure.
The All On 4 Plus® teeth replacement procedure involves 4 dental implants to support your new teeth. The implants provide the right support, under a particular angle. This helps compensate for any bone deficiency (not enough bone for implants) in the back of your jaws. The All On 4 Plus® method eliminates the need for a bone graft procedure.
